Technical Specifications:
Described as the Rolls Royce of caravans the twin-axle Buccaneer Clipper is one of the highest specification caravans ever manufactured. Based on the Schooner, the Clipper, with it’s rear twin bed layout, rarely comes up for sale on the secondhand market and this is a great opportunity to buy a top of the range caravan with every available manufacturer’s extra, including air conditioning.
Marketed as an exclusive ‘Grand Tourer’, Buccaneer wanted discerning buyers to experience a level of elegance and luxury not previously available in caravan design .
The exterior of the Clipper was described as a blend of upmarket styling and clever automotive touches, resulting in a caravan which looks impressive both on the road and when parked on a pitch.
The Clipper is built on a BPW Swing V tech chassis giving improved ride stability, excellent cornering ability, reduced body roll and increased safety at high speed. The exterior features one piece full height GRP front panel and abs rear panel and high level brake light. External equipment includes a Winterhoff WS3000 stabilising hitch, easy action handbrake, heavy duty corner steadies, smooth silver alloy wheels and a spare alloy wheel. Clever touches like the nose-weight indicator built into the top of the jockey wheel, smooth opening front locker, external sockets, barbecue point and awning warmer outlet add to the feeling that this caravan is a top of the range model. The exterior is finished in gloss white wth striking silver and deep red graphics, and features stunning Seitz flush-fitting privacy windows, which allow you to see out but stops others seeing in, whilst also helping to keep the interior cool and preventing UV damage to the upholstery, come fitted with with cassette blinds and fly screens.

inside the caravan, at the front, three large double-glazed and tinted windows, featuring blackout blinds and fly screens, provide a beautiful and private view from the spacious L-shaped lounge, which features a well-placed TV station on the right hand side of the lounge with 230v, 12v and aerial sockets for the stars 530 direction aerial. A key feature of the Clipper interior is the luxurious ‘Boavista’ upholstery with co-ordinated pelmets, curtains and removable carpets. Additional scatter cushions and bolsters add to the feeling of luxury in the lounge. The seating in the lounge lifts up to provide access to a large storage space underneath and the seating converts to a large and comfortable double bed. the deep, comfortable sprung sofa seats are perfect for relaxing or enjoying a meal with family or friends using the dining table provided, which is stored away in its own locker. There are overhead ‘aircraft-style’ storage lockers, finished in rich Aswald Ash veneer and set off by soft gold handles, adding to the feeling of overall luxury.
A high specification Sony DVD/CD/MP3/RADIO entertainment system has a direct aux-in socket for I-pods and phones, and there are Sony speakers not only in the lounge but in the bedroom and washroom as well.
Additional touches like an upholstered drinks cabinet, upholstered key station, upholstered magazine racks and timber effect tambour doors let you know that this is a top of the range caravan, in which no expense has been spared.
Moving back through the caravan, the kitchen was one of the most well-equipped and practical touring caravans available at the time and the list of features looks impressive today. A Spinflo 3 burner hob with rapid, high-speed multifunction burner can accommodate large saucepans , woks and frying pans and the colour-matched Prima mark 3 domestic-style oven, featuring illumination and 2 shelves, combined with a built-in 700w microwave, provide the ability to cater for everything from a cooked breakfast to a full Sunday roast. Opposite the kitchen unit, even the 3 way fridge is impressive: the clipper comes with a full-height 150l Dometic fridge-freezer, with electronic controls, providing enough cold storage for hungry adults…and teenagers!
Moving past the kitchen, the Buccaner Clipper’s bedroom provides twin fixed single beds, complete with ‘So Comfortable’ domestic quality pocket sprung mattresses, which lift up on gas stats to access the storage underneath. This layout is perfect for anyone wanting to leave beds made up, couples who prefer not to wake each other up in the night or for families with children/teenagers who want their own space and privacy.
At the rear of the caravan, a domestic style timber door and sturdy handle leads to the huge washroom which is beautifully appointed with high quality fixtures and fittings. The Dimatec chrome mixer faucet and inset wash basin, sits in a large vanity unit which, like the wardrobe with courtesy light, integrated shelving and drawers, is finished in the same rich Aswald Ash veneer woodwork as found in the rest of the Clipper. A separate, lined, circular shower cubicle features a chrome mixer tap, metal shower head and tinted screen door and the Thetford C-250 swivelling toilet has an electric flush and full warning light. Warm removable carpets, ambient lighting, Heki roof light and additional audio speakers made the Clipper’s washroom a very warm and comfortable place to be!
The Clipper’s heating and plumbing all feature top of the range components including the Dometic air conditioning which is fitted as standard and gives complete control over the inside temperature,
Truma Ultrastore water heater, Whale High Flo on-board pump with carbon filter and 40l tank wth easy charge over system.
