The layout of the Travel King 460 is unusual by British standards. The windowless front end means that the lounge area is situated at the rear and the fixed bedroom at the front. Once inside the caravan, it makes little difference which end is which, and from a practical perspective, the layout works very well.
The Travel King 460's appearance on the outside, with a blank space where you generally expect large windows, still looks elegant and is very practical with most of the services being located on the offside. The exterior door is fitted with a Milenco lock for extra security. The inside of the TEC Travel King 460 is accommodating and a very welcoming space. Like most continental caravans, the fixtures and fittings appear to be of a quality and solidity that's not usually found to this degree in equivalent U.K. caravans of this age. The lounge area is spacious and comfortable and although the bedroom is compact, it is cozy and plenty big enough for 2 adults to sleep comfortably.
The Travel King 460 is fitted on a modern galvanised AL-KO chassis with an elongated A-frame, giving a stable towing platform and with space for a cycle rack, and is fitted woth an AL-KO stabilising hitch.
Inside, the storage space available is more than adequate. Apart from the many kitchen cupboards and overhead 'aircraft style' lockers, there is additional room available beneath the rear lounge seats. The TEC Travel King 460 does not have any carpets, instead it is fitted with a vinyl floor covering which is practical and hardwearing. The upholstery, finished in a wine red design with matching curtains as can be seen in the photos, is both comfortable and hardwearing with the wrap-around seating layout providing plenty of space and flexibility for relaxed eating arrangements. The original table is missing but a folding table is supplied with the caravan. There is a large double glazed wndow in the rear panel and 2 more around the lounge on the side panels, making the lounge light and airy and giving a panoramic view from the lounge. The windows feature blinds and flyscreens as well as night-ventilation latches.
Moving away from the lounge, the kitchen facilities of the Travel King 460 have been sacrificed to provide a larger living area, but this is common with continental caravans, where kitchen facilities are often more practical and functional than luxurious. The layout of the kitchen means that there is no oven or grill but there is a three-burner stainless steel Cramer hob and a large oval sink with mixer tap adjacent to it. The layout includes a 72-litre fridge-freezer and a pair of useful plastic bins sunk into the worktops. There is also a TV shelf with a tambour door allowed a TV to be watched from either the lounge or the bedroom. The sturdy continental build quality of this caravan is apparent throughout the interior, with only minor wear visible to the furniture, commensurate with age and use.
The Travel King 460's sleeping arrangements are unusual in that the fixed double bed is situated in the front. The effect is very practical with regards to space and the mattress feels supportive and comfortable. There are additional overhead storage lockers in the bedroom and a wash basin with vanity unit and tambour door in the corner.
The washroom on the TEC Travel King 460 includes the usual Thetford cassette toilet and single mixer-tap with integrated shower in wetroom layout, as is usually found in smaller 4 berth caravans. The washroom is large enough to accommodate a six-foot person quite adequately. All of the washroom fittings and fixtures are in good condition.
In terms of other equipment in the TEC Travel King, there are 12v and 230v lights, providing perfectly adequate mixture of task and ambient lighting. There is a Truma space heater which works using electricity and gas and the Ultraheat system allows warm air to be blown through pipes and vents around the caravan, elimiating cold spots. A Truma water heater supplies the kitchen and washroom with hot water.
The TEC Travel King has been valeted inside and out by us, using autoglym products. It has also been fully serviced and damp-checked by an independent specialist, and passed with flying colours, providing real peace of mind for the new owner. This TEC is 100% dry, with no leaks or water ingress!
