This Compass Magnum 524 is a dealer "Special Edition' based on the Compass Rallye 524, with a side dinette and large end washroom layout. The build is the same as the Rallye, but features upgraded upholstery and fittings. Marketed as a premium caravan, the Rallye range received an exterior makeover for 2007 and this Magnum continues to look modern with its gloss white exterior, silver 'wave' graphics, Seitz flush fitting privacy windows and alloy wheels. The Magnum 524, as with the Rallye, is built on a BPW Swing V-Tech chassis with a Winterhoff 3000 stabiliser, easy-action handbrake, nose-weight indicator and heavy-duty corner steadies. The one piece exterior door features a slide opening window and integral flyscreen.
At the front, there are polyplastic double-glazed flush-fit front windows with blinds and flycreens, allowing a panoramic view from the lounge. Inside, the lounge area comprises two large seats, with storage and locker doors underneath, which can be used as two single beds or converted into a double bed using the pull out slats. There is a handy chest of drawers for storage which can be used as a coffee table, but for mealtimes, the folding table will comfortably seat 4. The upholstery is finished in attractive cream patterned fabric,and there are matching curtains and carpets. The furniture, including the spacious overhead lockers,are finished in 'Aswald Ash' veneer which gives the interior the appearance of warmth and all table tops and worktops are finished in decorate laminate. There is a sony cd/radio with I-pod/MP3 connectivity. Set into the ceiling is a large Heki 2 rooflight with a pleated blind and flycreen, allowing light and ventilation into the lounge.
Moving back through the Magnum, the kitchen is well appointed and features a stainless steel Spinflo 3 burner hob with high-speed multifunction burner, a Prima mk3 domestic-style oven/grill and a built-in microwave to ensure that everything from a simple breakfast to a full evening meal can be catered for. The space-saving Argent stainless steel sink, with chrome finish mixer tap, comes with a chopping board and removeable drainer which are stored underneath a 'Chinchilla glass' sink cover. There is ample worktop space for food preparation and lots of storage for crockery and kitchen essentials. A large dual-fuel 93 litre Dometic fridge has a curved Aswald Ash door. There is an Omnivent 2 way fan providing ventilation for the kitchen.
Opposite the kitchen there is a side dinette, with folding table and seating for two, upholstered in the same attractive fabric. The dinette provides addition seating and living space but can be converted into a single bed or 2 bunk beds, by using the lift-out top bunk system. This area can then be separated from the rest of the caravan by using the privacy curtain.
At the rear of the caravan, accessed through a domestic style door, the washroom is spacious and well equipped with a separate full-lined curved shower unit with chrome Reich tap. There is a wardrobe and a large number of lockers, finished in Aswald Ash veneer, with a swiveling Thetford c250 toilet with electric flush, and a gloss white sink, with chrome Reich tap set into an attractive vanity unit.
Heating is provided by the Truma Rapid blown air heating system and truma Ultraheat fire and hot water is supplied to the kitchen and washroom via the Truma Ultrastore water heater. Ambient lighting is provided by 12v 'eyeball' reading lights, mains 230v wall lights and 12v ceiling and locker lights. The RCD/MCD protected electical system has an easy to use control panel and there is a TV point with a Status directional aerial.
