The Bessacarr badge has been around for more than 60 years and, although it has passed through many managerial hands, it has always been known for the luxurious tourers that wear it.
The 2007 Cameo range was no exception. It had been fully revamped in 2005, so the only change two years later was updated soft furnishings. A smooth GRP panel defined its characteristic profile, and one-piece, high-impact aluminium clad the sides. A grabhandle stretched nearly right across the GRP rear panel. Other exterior features were alloy wheels, exterior mains and gas points, and heavy-duty steadies.
The traditional décors brought together superbly finished cabinet work and high-quality build – which made these tourers heavyweights. The list of interior equipment includes the most aspirational components: radio/CD player, dual-fuel hob, luxury washrooms and five mains sockets.
The Cameo 495 SL layout consists of two front bench seats which convert into a large double bed. A front drawer unit whit an extendable pull-out table that can be used for meals, cards, drinks etc without the need to use a stand-alone table. There are spotlights above the seats and separate lights to both front corners of the living area, separated by a central built-in clock. There are overhead lockers to the front of the caravan and both sides, with additional storage under both bench seats giving plenty of room to put all of your belongings in this little home from home.
The central kitchen comes with a full-size under-counter fridge freezer, stainless steel sink and long neck chrome tap, Stoves 3 gas ring and 1 hot plate hob, separate grill and oven and even an extractor fan allowing the cooking large meals in this caravan to become a simple task. Opposite the kitchen is the TV station area with two cupboards above and a central built-in shelving area. Below is the Truma Space heater which provides warm air to the whole caravan keeping it warm no matter what is going on outside.
Moving to the rear of the caravan is the end bathroom. A corner washbasin is surrounded on two sides with mirrors and a large full-height wardrobe. There is a shelf for your toiletries and a fixed cup and soap holder with a towel rail below them. The Thetford cassette toilet has shelving above and another cupboard giving ample storage space in the bathroom for clothing to be hung up and other items to be neatly packed away. The fully enclosed shower cubicle even has a hanging rail built-in for wetter items to be left to drip dry.
Internal natural light comes courtesy of a large electrically operated front skylight at the front and a Heki midi skylight in the kitchen area.
The running gear and 12n/12S towing electrics are on an Alko galvanised chassis and come with alloy wheels and the added extra of a Powr Touch motor mover.
The fixtures and fitting of this caravan really do make it stand out to other caravans, and are built to last. This particular caravan is in extremely good condition having been well cared for by its previous owners. However, like most Piran Caravan Sales caravans, this caravan comes with a host of extras included in the sale and with this caravan they include: PowrTouch motor mover, Aqua roll, Wastemaster, Hook up cable, Gas bottle, Caravan step, Waste pipe, Hitch cover and professionally made new curtains fitted with tie backs.
